In the ancient times, Feluccas were used for
and journeys and transporting materials.
Now they are used mainly for 'joy rides' although some more
adventurous tourists use it to go from place to place. The ride
was comfortable with a pleasant wind. We sailed across to
Kitchener's island (Geziret el-Nabatat) named after the British
general Haratio Kitchener. It's known for its garden and the
exotic plants. On the other side of the island, on the cliffs
are the tombs of a local saint and other dignitaries.
